Samia Hijab case: Court rejects bail plea of Hasan Zahid
The Islamabad District and Sessions Court has dismissed the bail plea of Hasan Zahid, the suspect in the alleged abduction and threats case involving TikToker Samia Hijab.
The Shalimar police registered two FIRs against him – one for abduction and another for issuing threats and snatching cash.
During the hearing before Judicial Magistrate Yasir Mahmood Chaudhry, police sought an eight-day physical remand in the abduction case.
However, the court rejected the request and sent the accused to jail on judicial remand.
At the same time, the court approved a two-day physical remand in the threats and robbery case, allowing investigators to recover Zahid’s mobile phone, a V8 vehicle, and weapons allegedly used in the crime.
Police told the court that they need the suspect’s identification to trace and arrest other individuals linked to the incident.
The defence lawyer argued that Hasan Zahid and Samia Hijab were already engaged, and the case was being misrepresented.
He added that when Zahid was arrested in the second FIR, he was actually at a rest house at the time of the alleged incident.
Police, however, maintained that strong evidence exists against Zahid and insisted that custody was essential to complete the investigation.
Samiya Hijab has found herself at the centre of multiple controversies this year.
Earlier in the ongoing year, she faced a storm of criticism when a private video surfaced online.
Samiya denied any involvement, calling the clip fake and AI-generated, and alleged that her ex-boyfriend was behind the leak in an attempt to malign her.
The scandal quickly turned into a case of cyber harassment, prompting her to announce that she would approach the FIA Cybercrime wing for justice.
Just months later, the influencer landed in another troubling situation when she accused her former fiancé, Hassan Zahid, of stalking, harassment, and even an abduction attempt.
CCTV footage reportedly showed him trying to force her into a car outside her home, which led to police intervention.
FIRs were registered under serious charges, including kidnapping, harassment, assault, and threats.
Zahid was subsequently arrested, and while courts granted physical remand for investigation in one case, he also applied for bail in another, prolonging the legal battle.
The back-to-back crises have had a devastating effect on her mental health.
She claimed that the harassment and abuse pushed her to the brink, admitting that she attempted suicide twice before finding the strength to carry on for her mother’s sake.
Drawing parallels with the tragic case of fellow TikToker Sana Yousaf, who was murdered after rejecting a marriage proposal, Samiya has called for stronger protections for women facing online defamation, stalking, and threats.
