April 11, 2021 04:33 PM

Poetess, writer and columnist Kiran Waqar has breathed her last while fighting coronavirus amid poor conditions at an Okara hospital as well as the Punjab government’s apathy, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.

Senior anchor/journalist Hamid Mir and singer Jawad Ahmad strongly criticized the Punjab government in a letter over the death of Kiran Waqar despite her consistent complaints about the non-availability of oxygen cylinders in Okara District Hospital.

Kiran Waqar and her brother contracted coronavirus a few days back. They complained numerous times on their social media accounts about the non-availability of oxygen, a key element in the treatment of the Covid-19.

She raised questions about where she and her brother should go as there was no oxygen available in Okara District Headquarters Hospital.

Yesterday, Kiran Waqar died at a hospital in Lahore. Her mother and brother had already fallen prey to the coronavirus.

Kiran Waqar’s death also exposed the performance of the Punjab Health Department and District Administration in Okara.

Citizens of Okara are demanding strict action from Chief Minister Punjab.
