Indian director’s web series on Lahore’s red light area faces Pakistanis’ wrath

Renowned Bollywood director Sanjay Leela Bhansali has teamed up with Netflix to put forward a project known as ‘Heeramandi’.

Heera Mandi which is also referred to as ‘Shahi Mohalla’ is a district in Lahore, Pakistan.

Heera Mandi is specifically known as the ‘Red light district’ of Lahore and is located inside the Walled City, south of the Badshahi Mosque.

Heera translates to ‘diamond’ and mandi to market, summing up to ‘Diamond market’.

Pakistani celebrities aren’t happy with the concept of Sanjay’s new project as it is based on a district which is found in Pakistan.

Actor Yasir Hussain has taken to his social media handle and revealed his displeasure regarding how Pakistanis don’t talk about their own culture and issues.

He also stated: “Pata nahi hum apni kahaniyaan kab sunaein gey.”
