A man was killed on Wednesday and his wife with whom he contracted a love marriage was critically injured in the name of honour in Chak Lashkari, Gujranwala, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

According to details, one Munir was murdered and his wife Najma was critically injured in an attack in the vicinity of Cantt police station, Chak Lashkari.

Deceased Munir solemnized love marriage with Najma six months ago. But Najma’s brothers and relatives were against this union. 

According to District Superintendent of Police Khalid Gujjar, on the day of the incident, Najma’s brothers stormed the place where the couple was living and attacked Munir with a sharp-edged weapon. Munir died on the spot while the assailants also attacked their sister, injuring her severely. 

The DSP said both Munir and Najma belonged to Bahawalpur and they were also related. They had taken shelter at a Dera where they used to work as well. 

The DSP stated that the injured woman was shifted to a hospital and police would take further action on her statement.
