Gas crisis has been looming large in the port city of Karachi, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Thursday.

From August 12 to 27, gas supply to Karachi will face a shortfall of 107 MMcfd, a spokesperson said.

Due to maintenance, there will be an annual shutdown of the gas field, the official said, adding that the OGDC released the annual maintenance plan

The 16-days maintenance will be done in three phases from August 12 to 27, the official said.

In the first phase, there will be a complete gas shutdown of eight days, the spokespersons said, adding that two partial shutdowns of 4 days will also be part of it.

The demand and supply gap has already widened due to the continuous decline in gas reserves. Therefore, this shutdown will further affect this gap.

Due to maintenance, consumers located at the end of distribution lines may be at the receiving end.
