‘Alhamdulillah for second life’: Arij Fatyma shares rare cancer battle
Arij Fatyma Jafri has shared her life-changing battle with a rare and aggressive form of cancer, raising awareness about the disease and the importance of early detection.
In an emotional Instagram post, the actress revealed that deciding to share her journey was not an easy choice.
However, she felt compelled to speak out to educate others and potentially save lives.
“Not everyone who follows you is truly happy for your happiness, sad for your sadness, or grieving for your grief,” she said, adding that sincerity can be rare.
Arij disclosed that she was diagnosed with choriocarcinoma, a highly aggressive cancer that spreads rapidly through the body.
The disease often develops after a molar pregnancy, a rare complication in which abnormal tissue grows inside the uterus instead of forming a normal pregnancy.
While molar pregnancies themselves are uncommon, in very rare cases, they can progress into choriocarcinoma.
“I was diagnosed with choriocarcinoma cancer—and it was caught very early, which is a huge blessing.” In most cases, it’s discovered too late.”
She credited her timely diagnosis as the key to her survival, explaining that she had very few symptoms but still chose to get checked, a decision that may have saved her life.
The actress described her recovery as nothing short of miraculous, repeatedly expressing gratitude to the Almighty.
“Alhamdulillah, I am blessed to be living what feels like a second life. This illness was written in my destiny, yet Allah helped me overcome it and brought me closer to Him in ways I can never thank Him enough for.”
She acknowledged that the possibility of recurrence serves as a constant reminder of life’s fragility.
“The thought of it coming back keeps me grounded, reminds me of death, and makes me live more intentionally,” she reflected. “In moments when you’re face-to-face with death, nothing matters more than your family—and the thought of how you will stand before God.”
Her message to the public was direct: take your health seriously.
“Please educate yourself. Don’t take your health lightly. Get yourself checked regularly,” she urged her followers.
Arij asked for prayers, adding that her family’s unwavering support was her greatest source of strength throughout the ordeal.
