PM approves appointment of new ambassadors to UAE, Russia

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, on the recommendation of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar, has approved appointment of two new ambassadors, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Monday, quoting diplomatic sources.

According to the sources, Shafqat Ali Khan has been appointed as new minister to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) while incumbent Pakistani Ambassador in UAE Faisal Niaz Tirmizi has been appointed as new ambassador to Russia.

The prime minister stamped the appointments while approving the summary forwarded by DPM Ishaq Dar.

The diplomatic sources said Shafqat Ali Khan was currently performing his duties as Foreign Office spokesman. Before that he had served as Pakistan’s Ambassador to Poland and Russia.
