Hira Soomro fumes over scam that cost innocent woman her life
Pakistani actress Hira Soomro has expressed deep grief and outrage over the tragic death of an elderly Pakistani woman who reportedly fell victim to a fraudulent travel scheme while embarking on a sacred journey.
Taking to Instagram, Hira shared an emotional message condemning those who exploit innocent people for personal gain, particularly those who prey on individuals travelling for religious purposes.
“Yeh qoum barbaad hai jo masoomon per zulm karti hai. Allah se darna bhool gaye hain yeh log,” she wrote, meaning that a society that oppresses the innocent is doomed and that people have forgotten to fear Allah.
Her powerful words came amid growing public anger over the heartbreaking case of 60 year old Anwar Bibi, who reportedly became a victim of a fake travel group while preparing for her religious journey.
According to reports circulating online, illegal substances were allegedly concealed in her luggage without her knowledge before she travelled to Madina. She was subsequently arrested and sentenced to 25 years in prison for an offence she reportedly had no knowledge of committing.
After spending around two years in custody, Anwar Bibi tragically passed away in prison. Her body was later returned to her hometown of Jaranwala, Punjab, where the devastating news sparked widespread grief and outrage.
The case has once again raised serious concerns over fraudulent travel operators who allegedly target unsuspecting people under the guise of facilitating sacred journeys. Such scams can leave vulnerable travellers exposed to devastating financial, legal and personal consequences.
Hira’s reaction has resonated with many social media users, as conversations around the incident increasingly focus on the need to protect ordinary citizens from deceptive travel networks and those who exploit their faith and trust.
