Laila Zuberi offers marriage advice: ‘Stay quiet when your husband is angry’

Timeless beauty Laila Zuberi has shared her perspective on handling disagreements between couples.

The iconic beauty has advised women to stay quiet when their husbands are angry rather than adding fuel to the fire.

Laila explained that when tempers are running high, giving immediate reaction can sometimes make matters even worse.

While giving suggestions on how to handle the situation, Laila advised couples to give their angry partner some space and allow the situation to cool down before discussing the cause.

The veteran actress shared a personal rule from her own marriage and told host Nida Yasir that she and her husband agreed early on that they would never go to bed angry with each other.

According to Laila, they make an effort to apologise, talk through their differences and settle the matter before calling it a night.

Well, her advice made social media users turn the conversation into a debate and many users questioned why the “stay quiet” rule should only apply to women.

Some fans suggested how the rule should work both ways. They said that if a husband expects silence from his wife when he is angry, his wife should receive the same treatment.

A user humorously summed it up by saying that husbands and wives should simply take turns, staying quiet whenever either one of them loses the temper.

Others shared their own experiences, with one commenter recalling how her mother advised her about handling disagreements on her wedding day and revealed that the advice had helped her enjoy 22 years of marriage without any major resentment.

Another viewer pointed out that whether it is the husband or wife, anger can hurt both partners.

And, of course, the comments section could not resist. Adding his own dose of desi humour, a user said that patience and silence are preferable during a disagreement otherwise the situation could turn into a full blown comedy of “jootis” (shoes) and flying tempers.

Laila Zuberi is one of Pakistan’s veteran television actresses whose career dates back to the early days of PTV.

She began her journey as a radio artist before making her transfer to television in the 1980s.

She earned recognition through memorable performances in classic productions, including Guest House, and went on to appear in popular dramas such as Durr-e-Shehwar, Kankar, Mann Mayal, Udaari, Baaghi and Sabaat.
