Polling for Balochistan local bodies elections starts

Polling has started for the local bodies’ elections that are being held today in Lasbela, Hub and Pishin districts of Balochistan, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.

The polling process will continue till 5pm. It will be held in two municipal committees and 20 union councils of Lasbela district.

As many as 365 candidates are contesting in 146 wards of Lasbela district, and the number of registered voters in the district is 136,703 including 76,698 men and 60,000 women.

A total of 133 polling stations have been set up for voting. Nine of the polling stations have been declared highly sensitive while 42 of them have been declared sensitive.

The local bodies elections will be held in 138 wards of 12 union councils of municipal corporation and municipal committees of Hub and Gadani.

31 candidates were elected unopposed in Hub. The registered voters in Hub are 135,620 including 76,583 men and 59082.

A total of 425 candidates are contesting elections from Hub. Out of 126 polling stations, 32 have been declared highly sensitive and 63 sensitive.

Voting will be carried out in 12 wards of Huramzai, Pishin district. There are 10,890 registered voters including 6,151 men and 4,739 women in the area.

A total of 79 candidates are contesting elections from Pishin. 13 stations have been set up for the polling, and all of them have been declared highly sensitive.
