Abhishek says daughter has no idea about Aishwarya Rai and his divorce rumours
Bollywood actor and legacy star Abhishek Bachchan is setting the record straight about his family life, and making it clear that his daughter Aaradhya remains blissfully unaware of the swirl of speculation surrounding her parents.
In a recent interview with Peeping Moon, Abhishek addressed ongoing rumours about his marriage to Bollywood star Aishwarya Rai, explaining that their 14-year-old daughter is shielded from the noise simply because she isn’t online the way most teens are.
When asked whether Aaradhya knows about the rumours, Abhishek responded, “I hope not. She’s a very mature girl.
She’s a wonderful girl, and her mother has done a wonderful job. I don’t think she’s aware, but I don’t think that’s part of her priority. She doesn’t have a phone; she’s 14.
If her friends want to get in touch with her, they have to call her mother’s phone. That’s something we decided on a long time ago.”
He clarified that while Aaradhya does have access to the internet, he doubts she concerns herself with gossip.
“She’s more interested in doing her homework; she loves school. I don’t think she would search our names on Google. She won’t believe anything; her mother has taught her well enough not to believe everything that she reads.
Like my parents were with me, we’re completely honest with the family. So there’s never been an occasion where anybody needs to question anyone,” he added.
Abhishek dismissed the divorce chatter as “rubbish, vicious, and incorrect,” stressing that stories about trouble in his marriage are fabricated. Aishwarya Rai, too, recently had to clarify, at the Red Sea Film Festival, that Aaradhya is not on social media.
Aishwarya and Abhishek first fell in love while working on Umrao Jaan (2006) and Guru (2007). They married in April 2007 in a private ceremony and welcomed Aaradhya in 2011.
Rumours of tension resurfaced in 2024 after the couple arrived separately for Anant Ambani’s wedding festivities — with Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Abhishek, Shweta Bachchan Nanda, Agastya Nanda, and Navya Nanda arriving together, while Aishwarya and Aaradhya appeared separately for photos.
On the work front, Aishwarya was last seen in Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan films as Nandini, while Abhishek appeared in Be Happy, Housefull 5, and Kaalidhar Laapata. He is next slated to star in King.
