The government and Tehrik-i-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) have reached an agreement under which the government will delist TLP workers from Fourth Schedule, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
However, the agreement between the government and the TLP will first be presented in the Parliament for approval.
According to the 24News TV channel, the new agreement is an endorsement of an earlier agreement signed between the government and the TLP on November 16, 2020.
The old agreement carried signatures of then interior minister Brig (retd) Ijaz and Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Pir Noorul Haq Qadri.
Under the old agreement, the government had agreed to expel the French ambassador from Pakistan and call back its envoy from Paris, and for that Parliament’s approval will be sought.
Under the old agreement, all cases against the TLP leaders and workers will be withdrawn.
However, the government could not implement the agreement on time, pushing the TLP to announce a march towards Islamabad.
