IHC overturns disqualification of Umar Gandapur, Shah Muhammad by ECP

The Islamabad High Court has declared the Election Commission of Pakistan’s decisions regarding disqualification of PTI candidate Umar Amin Gandapur and KP Transport Minister Shah Muhammad null and void, reported 24NewsHD TV channel. 

The Islamabad High Court headed by Chief Justice Athar Minallah on Friday heard petitions of Umar Amin and Shah Muhammad challenging the ECP decisions according to which they were declared disqualified. 

While giving judgement on Umar Amin Gandapur’s application, the high court declared him eligible for contesting the election of DI Khan mayor. 

The ECP disqualified him and barred him from contesting the election in violation of election rules. 

Umar Amin is brother of PTI MNA Ali Amin Gandapur. 

Justice Minallah issued the short order. 

In another case, the Islamabad High Court also declared the disqualification of KP Transport Minister Shah Muhammad null and void and restored his position. 

However, the court upheld the decision regarding the disqualification of PTI contestant from Baka Khel, Mamoonur Rashid.
