Notorious dacoit surrenders before police in Khairpur
As the police operation “Nijat Mehran” continued in the Kutcha area, a notorious dacoit, Sikandar Ali Narejo, along with his accomplices, surrendered himself before the police in Khairpur, reported 24NewsHD TV Channel on Wednesday.
Police said that dacoit Sikandar Ali Narejo was involved in serious criminal cases, including murder, dacoity, and extortion.
Deputy Inspector-General of Police Sukkur said that operation “Nijat Mehran” will continue against the dacoits without any difference.
Three more dacoits have surrendered in the Kacha region of southern Punjab, bringing the total to 144, including 12 high-profile criminals carrying government-announced head money worth over Rs120 million. The wave of surrenders marks a breakthrough in law enforcement's crackdown on organised crime in the riverine belt during the past month.
The surrenders follow an intensive crackdown by Punjab and Sindh Police, supported by Military Intelligence, aimed at curbing kidnapping-for-ransom and other criminal activities in the riverine belt.
