Ishaq Dar announces new diplomatic postings after PM's approval
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar Wednesday confirmed the appointment and transfer of 19 ambassadors and consuls general, stating that the postings had been approved by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
In a message shared on X, Dar announced that the appointments had been implemented to represent Pakistan abroad. He said the move reflected the government’s commitment to advancing a dynamic foreign policy and ensuring continuity in international relations over the past two years.
“I am happy to announce that with the approval of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the appointment of 19 ambassadors and consuls generals has been implemented to represent Pakistan abroad,” Dar said.
It is worth mentioning that 24 News had reported the expected appointments and transfers last week, ahead of the official confirmation.
Dar expressed hope that the country’s diplomatic representatives would carry forward their responsibilities with clarity of purpose and a special focus on economic diplomacy.

Among the newly approved appointments, Sadia Altaf Qazi has been posted to Bangkok, Thailand while Salman Sharif has been assigned to Berlin, Germany. Hasnain Yusuf will serve in Brunei Darussalam, Irfan Ahmed in Dushanbe, and Tahir Hussain Andrabi in Geneva.
Ashar Shahzad has been appointed to Kampala, while Muhammad Amir Khan will represent Pakistan in Kathmandu, Nepal. Chaudhry Tipu Usman has been posted to London, Dr Bilal Ahmed to Nairobi, and Asim Ali Khan to Oslo.
Other appointments include Ahmed Amjad Ali to Stockholm, Muhammad Mudassar Tipu to Tashkent, and Imran Ahmed Siddiqui to Tehran.
Ali Ansar Zaidi has been designated as Consul General in Frankfurt, while Yasir Iqbal Butt will serve as Consul General in Guangzhou, China.
Shehbaz Hussain has been appointed to Kandahar and Awais Ahmed Khan to Mazar-e-Sharif in Afghanistan. Siraj Ahmed Khan will serve in Los Angeles, United States, and Faisal Abro has been posted to Montreal, Canada.
Dar also paid tribute to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Pakistan’s diplomats serving abroad, acknowledging their professionalism and dedication while representing the country overseas.
He prayed for their success in promoting Pakistan’s interests and strengthening bilateral ties with host nations.
