PM Shehbaz visits Islamabad Imambargah, announces compensation for victims of terror attack

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday visited Khadija-tul-Kubra Imambargah in the Tarlai area of Islamabad to offer his condolences to the families of martyr Aun Abbas and other victims of the tragic terrorist incident of February 6.

During the visit, the prime minister announced Rs10 million for the family of martyr Aun Abbas in recognition of his unparalleled bravery. He also announced Rs5 million for the family of each martyr, Rs3 million each for those who were seriously injured, and Rs1 million each for the other injured.

“The entire nation, including me, is in grief over the atrocious, abhorrent and extremely heinous incident of terrorism on February 6,” the prime minister said. “Our elders, brothers, sons and children were the victims of this terrorism. We are all mourning this.”

He said he had come to offer condolences on behalf of the entire nation, calling the tragedy an unbearable shock, especially for the affected families.

“May Allah elevate the ranks of the martyrs and grant patience to the families,” he prayed.

The prime minister also paid tribute to religious scholars and Muslims of all sects for maintaining unity, solidarity and harmony in the wake of the incident. He said such unity was thwarting the designs of the enemies of Islam and Muslims.

Paying special tribute, the prime minister saluted the bravery and sacrifice of young Aun Abbas, who was martyred while trying to stop the suicide bomber.
