Bad news for students as HEC declares 147 universities, colleges illegal
97 institutes declared invalid in Punjab including 10 in Lahore: HEC will not accept degrees awarded by these institutes

Bad news for students who are in a state of quandary following the decision of the Higher Education Commission which has declared 147 unregistered universities and degree awarding institutes across the country including 97 institutes in Punjab illegal, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The HEC on Tuesday issued a list of 147 unregistered and illegal universities and colleges across the country. The education authority has warned that getting admission to these institutes would be illegal.
In only Lahore, 10 degree-awarding institutes have been declared invalid.
These included: Institute of Professional Studies, Muslim Town; College of Technical Education; College of Education, New Muslim Town; Matrix Institute of Emerging Sciences; Quaid-i-Azam College of Information Technology, Ferozpur Road; Centre for Health and Population Studies; College of Business Administration, Gulberg; Lahore School of Information Technology, Garden Town; Proceed Institute of Management and IT; and Institute of Computer Technology, Ferozpur Road.

The Higher Education Commission has barred students from getting enrolled in 97 universities in Punjab after declaring them illegal. It warned that students who graduate from these illegal universities and colleges, their degrees will not be recognized.
