Fog blanketed Lahore and parts of Punjab throwing traffic out of gear, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Monday.

The Meteorological Department forecast dry and cold weather in Islamabad and parts of Punjab.

Extremely cold weather will prevail in the hilly areas, the experts said adding that fog-fall is also expected in the plains of KP and Upper Sindh.

Poor visibility has disrupted flight operations at the Lahore Airport. According to the management, 150m visibility on the runway made authorities cancel flights and divert planes to other cities to avert any untoward incident.

Two Airblue flights from Dubai and Sharjah have been diverted to Islamabad while Saudi flights from Jeddah and Masqat were canceled. Similarly, PIA flights from Karachi and Muscat were canceled.

The authorities have said the operation will resume as soon as the weather returns to normalcy. The admin also announced the closure of the Motorway sections because of poor visibility. The Motorway remained closed at 8pm to avert any untoward incident.
