30 cases of Delta virus reported in Lahore, Pindi

Pakistan needs to strictly adhere to the standard operational procedures (SOPs) of Covid-19 as 30 cases of the most dreaded Delta virus which originated in India have been found in Lahore and Rawalpindi during last week giving credence to the unleashing of the fourth wave of the pandemic across the country, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Talking to 24NewsHD on Sunday, the renowned virologist, Professor Dr Waheed-uz-Zaman Tariq informed that 10 people were tested positive during last week in Lahore. All were carrying Delta (Indian) virus, he added.
In Rawalpindi, 20 cases of Delta virus were confirmed last week which has triggered a fear that it would set into motion a fourth wave of the pandemic in the country.
To curb Delta virus’ advances, the government has made vaccination compulsory for government employees. The government has decided to cut salary of those employees who are not inoculated. The government officials are advised to submit the certificate of at least their first jab of the Covid-19 vaccine before July 2021 to their respective departments.
