Humaira Asghar's funeral prayers held, laid to rest in Lahore

The funeral prayers of actress and model Humaira Asghar Ali were offered in Model Town’s Q Block Graveyard in Lahore, after her body was found in a decomposed state in a Karachi apartment -- at least eight months after her death.

According to her brother, Humaira’s body was flown from Karachi to Lahore on Friday and taken directly to the cemetery without being brought home. Her final rites were performed amid sorrow and unanswered questions surrounding her mysterious disappearance and death. 

Father speaks to media

Talking to media after the burial, her father Dr Asghar Ali said he was not ready to comment on the post-mortem report at this stage. He also clarified that Humaira’s mother maintained a close relationship with her, contrary to some reports suggesting otherwise.He also rejected circulating rumours about the alleged abandonment of Humaira’s body, calling them completely baseless. “How could anyone receive the body before a proper medical examination?” he questioned. 

Concluding his remarks, he said, “Whatever happened to my daughter, Allah will hold those responsible to account.” 

The entertainment industry continues to mourn the loss of the 32-year-old actress, whose decomposed body was discovered earlier this week in her Karachi apartment. 
Her tragic death has reignited conversations around isolation and mental health awareness, particularly within the entertainment community.
Initial reports highlighted that her family had refused to claim her body, prompting concern and sorrow across the showbiz industry. Several artists expressed their grief publicly and offered to perform her last rites.
However, Humaira’s brother, Naveed, came forward in Karachi to receive the body. Speaking to the media, he explained the delay in claiming her remains.
"She had always been an independent person. The family had not been in contact with her for the past six months as her mobile phone was switched off," he said, adding that the family was unaware of her exact whereabouts and that she had not shared her living arrangements in the city.
“There’s no truth to the claim that we didn’t want to receive her body due to conflicts. My parents were emotionally shaken when they learned about the condition in which her body was found, and initially couldn’t bear to see it. That was misinterpreted. I’m here with my father’s permission to take her body for burial,” Naveed clarified.
He also criticized sections of the media for sensationalizing the family’s absence rather than focusing on the circumstances surrounding her death.
