LHC orders timely closure of restaurants at midnight

The Lahore High Court ordering action against restaurants violating time bar has directed authorities to close all restaurants at 12 midnight, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.   

During proceedings on Friday, the court remarked that climate change is an important issue and that should not be compromised. 

The court expressed displeasure over DG PHA's statement regarding tree cutting.

Justice Shahid Karim remarked that court will issue an order regarding action against those who cut down trees.

Justice Shaid Karim inquired that court sought a report on the statement of DG PHA regarding tree cutting. 

Lawyer of PHA replied that DG PHA has an old statement regarding tree cutting and DG did not issue any fresh statement yet 

Court will also issue an order today regarding action against tree fellers and DG should explain his statement, Justice Shahid Karim remarked. 

Order has been given to an independent consultant on the Yellow Line project and canal has been declared a heritage according to the decisions of the Supreme Court, Justice Shahid Karim remarked.

No tree will be cut from the canal without the permission of the court, the court ordered.

The smog emission analyzer machine was to be inaugurated, what happened to it? Justice Shahid Karim inquired.

Yes, the inauguration was to be held but due to some reasons it was delayed, public prosecutor replied.

The court ordered to impose a heavy fine on the kiln emitting smoke near Hiran Minar Sheikhupura and impose a fine of Rs1.5 million and take an affidavit. 

Inform all the kiln owners in Sheikhupura that if there is a violation, the kiln will be demolished, Justice Shahid Karim ordered.

Relevant officer of the Environment Department of Sheikhupura should be replaced immediately, Justice Shahid Karim ordered.

There will be strict action against violations against district officers of the Environment Department across Punjab, Justice Shahid Karim remarked.

The court adjourned further hearing of the case till July 28.
