A massive fire broke out in an airconditioner-manufacturing factory in Islamabad on Friday morning, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The factory was located in Hummak area of Model Town in Islamabad. Heavy smoke billowing out of the factory engulfed the entire area.

Soon after receiving the incident report, fire brigade vehicles rushed to the scene and began an operation to control the fire in Hummak Industrial Area, within the limits of Thana Hammak.

The workers at the factory shifted ready airconditioners to save them from the blaze.

No loss of life was reported from the site until this report was filed. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.

The District Administration and the CDA fire brigade backed by 15 fire engines responded promptly and brought the blaze under control after a hectic operation which took three and a half hours.

The fire, as reported by the Islamabad District Administration, was said to have been triggered by short-circuit, and consequently began spreading in a rapid manner, ultimately engulfing a total of nine units at the factory and causing major structural damage before it was successfully brought under control.

With the timely and coordinated efforts of the authorities, the fire was contained, averting further destruction.

A total of 12 fire brigade vehicles and three water tankers were strategically deployed during the operation in order to combat the blaze from multiple directions.

An initial investigation report has been issued by the Islamabad District Administration which confirms that the fire was caused by an electrical short-circuit.

Authorities were later working to identify those responsible, and legal action was being taken in accordance with the findings.
