Russian Ambassador in Pakistan Albert Khuraif on Friday visited the residence of Amir of Jamiat Ulema Islam (JUI) Maulana Fazlur Rehman in Islamabad and held a detailed meeting with him, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The meeting centered on the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Gaza, the broader implications of Iran-Israel conflict, and a roadmap for closer strategic and ideological cooperation between Pakistan and Russia.

Maulana Fazlur Rehman conveyed his deep alarm over Israel’s continued aggression in Gaza and the mass displacement of Palestinian civilians. He praised Iran’s unequivocal stance in the Israel-Iran standoff and welcomed regional unity in defending Palestinian rights.

Referring to the worsening crisis in the enclave, Fazl urged the Russian envoy to ensure Moscow plays an assertive diplomatic role in halting Israel’s violations. “Forced displacement is a war crime. The people of Gaza need not only sympathy but real international support,” he stated.

Responding to the concerns, Ambassador Khorev assured Fazl that Russia remains committed to international law and efforts to de-escalate the situation in the Middle East.

He reiterated Moscow’s firm stance on advocating for a ceasefire and opposing any attempt to change the demographic structure of Palestinian territory through forced migration.

Maulana Fazalur Rehman lauded Russian government for recognizing Taliban regime in Afghanistan.

The JUI Amir also praised the upcoming Asia-Europe Security Conference being organized by Russia and termed it “the need of the hour.” He stressed that multilateral initiatives like these offer realistic solutions to global conflict through inclusive dialogue.

Advocate Jalaluddin and Maulana Asjad Mehmood was also present during the meeting.
