Share prices hit all-time high at Pakistan Stock Exchange

The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) started the day on Friday with a bullish trend hitting all-time high of 134,000 points as investors reacted positively to record-high remittances and strong foreign exchange reserves held by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

During intraday trading, the KSE-100 Index gained 690.26 points or 0.51% to reach 134,472.60 points.

The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) ended the week on a strong footing, with the KSE-100 Index climbing past the 134,000 level during Friday’s session. The benchmark index moved within a range, touching an intraday high of 134,931.96 and a low of 134,130.41. It eventually settled at 134,299.77, gaining 517.42 points, or 0.39%, by the close.

Economic analysts said investor confidence was buoyed by data from the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) showing workers’ remittances hit an all-time high of $38.3 billion in FY2025 — a 26.6% year-on-year increase. 

In June alone, remittances stood at $3.4 billion, up 7.9% from a year earlier. Although monthly inflows dipped 8% from May, the annual total surpassed both the official $38 billion target and the country’s export earnings of $32.1 billion.

The SBP’s foreign exchange reserves rose by $5.12 billion in FY25 to $14.51 billion, nearly five times higher than levels seen at the start of 2023. The average monthly remittances during FY25 stood at $3.19 billion, compared to $2.52 billion in FY24.

Earlier on Thursday, the Pakistan Stock Exchange’s (PSX) benchmark KSE-100 Index closed in bullish trend, gaining 1,205.36 points, a positive change of 0.91 percent, closing at 133,782.35 points.

A total of 941,719,946 shares were traded during the day as compared to 905,743,882 shares the previous trading day, whereas the price of shares stood at Rs36.060 billion against Rs30.530 billion on the last trading day.

As many as 479 companies transacted their shares in the stock market, 260 of them recorded gains and 195 sustained losses, whereas the share price of 24 companies remained unchanged.

The three top trading companies were Bank of Punjab with 155,383,258 shares at Rs13.00 per share, Kohinoor Spinning with 55,106,065 shares at Rs6.89 per share and Hascol Petrol with 33,301,219 shares at Rs 11.81 per share.

PIA Holding Company Limited witnessed a maximum increase of Rs 2,161.40 per share price, closing at Rs 23,775.40, whereas the runner-up was Khyber Textile Mills Limited with Rs 95.18 rise in its per share price to Rs 1,463.46.

Unilever Pakistan Foods Limited witnessed a maximum decrease of Rs163.44 per share closing at Rs 23,325.05 followed by Hoechst Pakistan Limited with Rs50.63 decline in its share price to close at Rs3,300.00.
