Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) on Saturday suspended its flight operation to Syrian capital Damascus in view of bombing of the city airport’s runways by the Israeli forces yesterday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

PIA flight PK-135, which was to leave Karachi for the Syrian capital today early in the morning with 170 passengers on board, had to be cancelled.

Similarly, national flag carrier’s flight PK-136, which had to bring 169 passengers from Damascus back to Karachi, was also cancelled.

Apologizing to the passengers for the inconvenience caused to them by the flights’ operation suspension, PIA spokesman said the decision had become inevitable given the bombardment of the Syrian capital’s airport. “As soon as the runways become functional, the flight will be ready to take passengers to Damascus,” he announced.
