Items that will become more expensive in new fiscal year after new taxes

A number of imported items will become more expensive in the next fiscal year because the government has imposed customs duty on them in the budget 2025-26.

Ten percent customs duty has been proposed on trout, tuna and solomon fish, lobsters, shrimps and prawns. Moreover, 15 percent customs duty has been proposed on vegetables, fruits, dry fruits, flower seeds, cereals and mushrooms.  

Ten percent customs duty has been proposed on tea and green tea import, cotton fabrics and polyesters.

Fifteen percent customs duty has been proposed on printing, posters, art and graphic papers, cartons, boxes, yarn and machinery import.

Zero duty has been proposed on bakery owners, dishwashing machines, accelerators, combined harvesters, sugarcane crushers, calculators and computers and their accessories.

Ten percent excise duty has been proposed on dental clinic equipment, ballpoint ink, eatables, cold drinks essences. At least 15 percent customs duty has been proposed on the raw material for the industry.
