Research training course hosted at Fatima Jinnah Medical University
A Training Course on Quality Research was conducted by the Department of Psychiatry at Fatima Jinnah Medical University/Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, under the supervision of the Head of Psychiatry Department, Prof. Ayesha Rashid.
The Vice Chancellor FJMU Professor Khalid Masood Gondal graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
Principal FJMC Prof. Abdul Hameed, Chairperson Medicine Department Prof. Bilquis Shabbir, Prof. Naveed Akbar Hotiana, Prof. Aysha Rashid, Prof. Taskeen Zahra and a large number of faculty members were present on the occasion.
The course aimed to enhance research quality and standards by providing training on the publication process, with a specific focus on research paper writing and peer review. FJMU is one of the top institutions in academia, offering high-quality research and patient care.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Khalid Masood Gondal emphasised that Fatima Jinnah Medical University is fostering a culture of medical research. He highlighted the institution's commitment to academic excellence, teaching, research, and providing top-notch medical facilities in line with the Government of Punjab's vision.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Khalid Masood Gondal, accompanied by faculty members, visited the Mother and Child Block at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital. During the visit, he inaugurated the advanced Hi-Tech Bilirubin Meter for diagnosing congenital jaundice in newborns, enhancing the Department of Paediatrics' diagnostic capabilities. This new equipment will facilitate healthcare professionals in the immediate diagnosis and treatment of jaundice in newborns, promptly, enabling timely treatment and ensuring the best possible medical care.

Last year, renowned international experts, the Presidents of the Royal Colleges, UK Prof. Sarah Clarke and Prof. Andrew Elder, visited the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. They were highly impressed by the state-of-the-art facilities, appreciated FJMU as one of the World's best institutions, reflecting the commitment to providing exceptional healthcare facilities.
