Child killed, seven injured as wedding vehicle overturns in Sindh

A wedding celebration turned into tragedy near Tehri Mirwah in Sindh when a vehicle carrying members of a wedding party overturned after its tie rod broke, killing a 12-year-old boy and injuring seven others, police and hospital sources said.

According to initial reports, members of the Soomro community from Nandhiro village were travelling in a Datsun pickup as part of a wedding procession when the accident occurred near Zafarabad.

Authorities said the vehicle overturned after its tie rod broke, causing the passengers to be thrown from the vehicle.

As a result of the accident, 12-year-old Tanveer, son of Panjal Soomro, died at the scene.

Seven other passengers, including women, sustained injuries. The injured were identified as Sajidan, Sikandar, Jamila, Momin and Qalandar Bakhsh, while the identities of the remaining injured were not immediately available.

Rescue teams and local residents shifted the injured to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Family members and relatives were overcome with grief when the body of the deceased child was brought home. The festive atmosphere of the wedding turned into mourning, with sorrow spreading throughout the area.

Police said further investigation into the incident was underway.
