No Aleem-Jahangir meeting took place: Aun Chaudhry

March 11, 2022 08:47 PM

No meeting between Jahangir Khan Tareen and Aleem Khan has taken place so far, a key member of the PTI disgruntled faction said on Friday.

“No such meeting took place as per my information,” Aun Chaudhry said in reply to a question during a press conference.

Flanked by Faisal Hayat and other group members, he said he has no contact with Aleem Khan so far.

Aun said he will meet Aleem Khan after the latter’s return tomorrow and take up the matter with him.

In reply to a question about their meeting with Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar, Faisal Hayat said they will go anywhere to raise their reservations.

Politicians keep their doors open for dialogue while standing firm on their stance, he said, adding that there is no concept of closing doors in politics.

He said the PM has the key to resolving their issues.

Earlier in the day, the group accused the government of victimizing it politically.

Talking to the media following a group meeting at the residence of Aun Chaudhry in Lahore, the group spokesperson– Saeed Akbar Nawani –  said that the shutting down of petrol pumps and transport owned by Punjab Minister Ajmal Cheema in Faisalabad was the case in point.

“Prime Minister Imran Khan’s advisers are giving him wrong advice,” he said.

The spokesman further said that if the name of Pakistan Muslim Quaid (PML-Q) leader and Speaker Punjab Assembly Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi was proposed for the post of Punjab chief minister (CM), the group would announce its decision following consultations.

Nawani said so far the group had not considered anybody’s name for the position of provincial chief executive. He also dispelled the impression that Samsam Bukhari and Asif Nakai had ever been part of the Tareen group.
