Aneet Padda WON’T play Madhubala in biopic, YRF speaks out

Recent rumours claiming that Aneet Padda would portray legendary Hindi cinema star Madhubala in an upcoming biopic have been officially dismissed. YRF Talent has clarified that the reports are completely false, putting an end to speculation about the casting.

Speculation had been circulating online that Saiyaara actress Aneet Padda, who rose to fame with YRF’s 2025 romance blockbuster, would play legendary actress Madhubala in a biopic directed by Jasmeet K Reen, known for Darlings.

However, a spokesperson for YRF Talent, the actress’s management agency, clarified on Tuesday that these reports are untrue. Industry sources also confirmed that Aneet has not been associated with the Madhubala biopic in any capacity.

The Madhubala project was first announced by Sony Pictures International Productions in March 2024. It is a co-production between Sony Pictures International Productions, Brewing Thoughts Pvt Ltd, and Madhubala Ventures, which is led by Madhubala’s younger sister Madhur Brij Bhushan and Arvind Kumar Malviya.

Madhubala, one of Hindi cinema’s most celebrated stars, appeared in classics such as Mr & Mrs 55 (1955), Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi (1958), Kala Pani (1958), and Howrah Bridge (1958). She achieved legendary status with her iconic role as Anarkali in the 1960 epic Mughal-e-Azam, acting opposite Dilip Kumar and Prithviraj Kapoor. Madhubala passed away in 1969 at the age of 36.

Meanwhile, Aneet Padda is currently set to headline Shakti Shalini, the next instalment of producer Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Horror Comedy Universe (MHCU). Her involvement was announced following the release of Ayushmann Khurrana’s 2025 film Thamma, also part of the MHCU. Shakti Shalini is scheduled for a theatrical release on December 24.

Industry insiders stress that rumours linking Aneet to the Madhubala biopic are purely speculative and no official casting decisions have been made.
