Man shoots girl dead after marriage refusal in Gujranwala
A 25-year-old girl was shot dead by a man after she refused to marry him in Gujranwala, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.
The incident took place within the jurisdiction of the Model Town Police Station in Gujranwala. The girl was identified as Shanza of Alipur Chattha, whom the accused, Babar, wanted to marry.
On the day of the incident, Shanza was sitting in a park along with her father when the accused approached her along with a friend, Mehtab, and proposed her to marry him, which she refused.
Following an altercation, Babar shot her and escaped from the scene.
Having been informed, police scrambled to the crime scene and shifted the critically injured girl to the hospital, but she breathed her last.
Police started an investigation after sending the dead body to a hospital for a medicolegal procedure.
Police launched a manhunt for fleeing suspects. Police registered a first information report on behalf of victim’s father, Ashraf.
As per the FIR, the accused was angry after the girl and her parents turned down his marriage proposal.
