PTI files resolution in PA to form judicial commission on May 9 tragedy

A resolution has been submitted in the Punjab Assembly demanding the formation of a judicial commission to investigate the May 9 tragedy, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Sunday.

The resolution was moved by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) MPA Farrukh Javed Moon, who termed May 9 as one of the most controversial incidents in Pakistan’s history.

The resolution states that even after two years, the facts behind the incident remain concealed. “The tragedy has been used for political purposes, and the hidden hands involved have not yet been exposed,” the resolution reads.

It further highlights that 14 innocent people lost their lives and hundreds were imprisoned, yet questions linger over the role of the caretaker government and police administration of the time. “Why did the entire administration of Punjab fail to act?” it asks.

The resolution urges the immediate formation of a judicial commission to conduct transparent investigations and identify those responsible for the events of May 9.
