School, colleges to re-open across Punjab from Monday
All schools and educational institutions across Punjab will resume regular operations from Monday, May 12, following a ceasefire agreement between Pakistan and India. Punjab government had earlier announced a three-day closure of educational institutions beginning Friday, in light of heightened tensions along the border. The directive had affected all public and private schools, colleges, and universities, including institutions conducting Intermediate, O and A level examinations.
According to the official statements, Intermediate exams will be held as per the pre-announced timetable from Monday, while O and A level examinations will also proceed without disruption. Authorities have advised students and staff to report to their respective institutions as per regular timings and comply with standard examination protocols.
Educational institutions were closed on Friday, Saturday and Sunday amid precautionary measures, leading to concerns among students and parents regarding examination schedules. The Punjab Education Department has directed all relevant bodies to ensure smooth functioning of schools and examination centres, adding that necessary security and logistical arrangements are in place.
