Fazl submits motion in National Assembly over killings of scholars, rising terrorism in KP

Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has submitted a notice in the National Assembly seeking attention over the martyrdom of religious scholar Sheikh Idrees and other victims of recent attacks, while also filing an adjournment motion regarding the deteriorating security situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

According to the notice submitted in the lower house of parliament, Maulana Fazlur Rehman expressed concern over the security situation in the country and stated that religious scholars were not safe anywhere across Pakistan.

The JUI-F chief urged the National Assembly to discuss the issue of attacks on scholars and worsening law and order conditions, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

In the adjournment motion, Fazlur Rehman condemned the recent incidents of terrorism and demanded immediate and effective measures from the government to stop militant violence and restore peace in affected areas.

The motion stated that the JUI-F leadership shares the grief of the families of Sheikh Idrees, other slain scholars and officials who were martyred in terrorist incidents in Bannu.

The adjournment motion also called on the government to ensure immediate medical treatment and assistance for those injured in the attacks.

“Therefore, this matter should be brought before the House for discussion,” the motion stated, emphasizing the need for parliamentary debate on the growing security challenges.

Maulana Fazlur Rehman further stressed that the increasing incidents of terrorism and targeted attacks in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had created fear and uncertainty among citizens, particularly religious figures and public officials.

The JUI-F has demanded that the federal government adopt urgent measures to improve security, protect religious scholars and address the deteriorating law and order situation in the province.
