Media workers’ protection remains top priority, Ataullah Tarar tells National Assembly

Federal Information Minister Ataullah Tarar on Monday said the protection of media workers remained the government’s top priority, assuring legislators that steps would be taken to safeguard journalists’ rights and employment, 24NewsHD TV reported.

Speaking in the National Assembly, Tarar said both the federal and provincial governments were working continuously to facilitate media channels and improve conditions for media workers.

He said the government would ensure the protection of journalists’ rights and address issues related to their job security and professional benefits.

The minister said the issue of employment protection for journalists would also be raised with the Pakistan Broadcasters Association.

Tarar added that matters related to journalists’ job security, salaries, and benefits would be resolved through consultations with relevant stakeholders.

He said the government would take concrete measures to address the problems faced by media workers across the country.

The information minister also said the government would work together with both allied parties and the opposition to find solutions to issues confronting journalists and media employees.
