Punjab announces lifting smog lockdown

The Punjab government has announced lifting the lockdown imposed to avert smog hazards, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Friday.

After consultation with experts and the environment department reps, the decision to lift the lockdown has been made, Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi said.

The air quality is expected to improve after the recent rains, he said adding that the markets will open tomorrow while restaurants may resume operations after 6 pm.
