12 martyred, 27 injured as suicide bomber strikes Islamabad

As many as 12 people were martyred while 27 others were injured when a suicide bomber detonated himself outside Islamabad’s G-11 Kutchehry on Tuesday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

A large number of policemen and personnel of other law-enforcement agencies rushed to the blast site and cordoned off the area. They started collecting evidence from the scene.

All the injured, some of them serious, were shifted to the PIMS Hospital. PIMS Hospital spokesperson Dr Mubashar Dha has said that 36 injured of Islamabad blast were brought to the hospital. 18 injured were discharged after basic treatment. The condition of 14 injured in the blast is out of danger and they have been shifted to wards. Dr Mubashir said the condition of four injured in the courthouse blast is critical. The spokesperson said 10 people killed in the blast have been identified while the identity of two victims have not yet been established. On the other hand, head of the suicide bomber was found on a road near the district courts complex.

As per initial report, the suicide bomber was riding a motorcycle and he detonated himself once he came close to a police vehicle at 12:39 pm.According to eyewitnesses, as soon as the blast took place, fire erupted in the motorcycle and the car. A number of cars and motorcycles were damaged in the explosion

DIG Islamabad, district administration and forensic teams rushed to the spot while, judges, lawyers and litigants evacuated the judicial complex from its back side. 

"As I parked my car and entered the complex... I heard a loud bang on the gate," lawyer Rustam Malik said after the blast, which sent people fleeing and damaged vehicles in the area.

"It was complete chaos, lawyers and people were running inside the complex. I saw two dead bodies lying on the gate and several cars were on fire," said Malik, one of the witnesses who spoke to AFP.

Mohammed Shahzad Butt, another lawyer, said "It was a massive blast. Everyone started running inside out of panic. I have seen at least five dead bodies lying at the front gate."

Police and paramilitary troops cordoned off the area, which houses several government offices, including the administrative commissioner and deputy commissioner.

Bomber first tried to enter district court: Naqvi

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi visited the blast site after the suicide explosion in the federal capital and got briefing from the Inspector Geneal of Police Islamabad about the incident.

Mohsin Naqvi said the suicide bomber was planning to go inside the district court buts when there was no opportunity, the police vehicle was attacked.

"At 12:39 pm (0739 GMT), a suicide attack was carried out at the Kachehri (district courts)... so far 12 people have been martyred and around 27 are wounded," Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi told reporters at the scene of the incident.

The Interior Minister said the suicide bomber will be identified on first priority. The characters involved in the attack will also be brought to light, he added.

He said “We have gone to Afghanistan and given them evidence of how people are trained there and attacks are carried out after that.”

Mohsin Naqvi said there is no choice but to stop the evil elements of Afghanistan.

Today's attack is linked to many things and we will bring out the evidence soon, Mohsin Naqvi said.

He said after two weeks no vehicle will enter Islamabad without a tag. “We have an idea of ​​what Afghanistan is doing, but there will be no compromise on security,” Mohsin Naqvi said.

The Interior Minister said whoever did the suicide blast will have to pay the price.

The Prime Minister directed immediate treatment of the injured, Mohsin Naqvi said.

He said yesterday in Wana too, a car riding suicide bomber exploded at the entry point.

However, the clearance of the area is also underway there, Mohsin Naqvi said.

Mohsin Naqvi said Afghanistan is involved in the Wana attack and communication was continued from Afghanistan. 

NADRA team at blast site

A team from the National Database & Registration Authority (NADRA) reached the Judicial Complex in Islamabad to complete the identification process of the suicide bomber. 

A team of forensic experts is also present at the site.

The law enforcement agencies completely sealed the site of the blast.

Initial reports suggested that the suicide blast was carried out by militants belonging to Fitna al-Khwarij, an organisation described as an Indian-sponsored proxy operating through the Afghan Taliban.

On one side, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi was staging a false-flag event in New Delhi, and on the other hand, his proxies, the Afghan Taliban and Fitna al-Khwarij, were responsible for orchestrating terrorist attacks in Pakistan, including the one on Cadet College Wana earlier and now the bombing outside the Islamabad courts.

It is worth recalling that following the explosion in New Delhi, Indian media outlets reacted with hysteria, hastily accusing Pakistan of involvement without presenting evidence. However, social media users in both countries and abroad dismissed these claims, rejecting India’s attempt to shift blame.
