Pakistan thrash Malaysia 7–2 in opening match of Sultan of Johor Cup

Pakistan’s junior hockey team made a stunning start to their campaign in the 13th Sultan of Johor Cup, thrashing hosts Malaysia 7–2 in their opening match held in Johor Bahru on Saturday.

The young Pakistani side delivered a commanding performance, taking control of the game from the very beginning.

In the third minute, Sufyan Khan converted a penalty corner to open the scoring, before doubling both his and the team’s tally in the 21st minute, again through a perfectly executed penalty corner.

Capt Abdul Hannan Shahid made it 3–0 in the 30th minute. Just two minutes later, Nadeem Khan struck Pakistan’s fourth goal, further extending the lead.

Sufyan Khan completed a brilliant hat-trick in the 34th minute, marking one of the standout performances of the match.

Nadeem Khan added his second and Pakistan’s sixth goal in the 44th minute, while Hamza Fayyaz sealed the win with the team’s seventh goal in the 52nd minute.

For Malaysia, Ammar and Azeemuddin managed to find the net, but their efforts were not enough to halt Pakistan’s relentless attacking play.

With this impressive opening victory, Pakistan will now face Great Britain in their second match of the tournament, scheduled for tomorrow, October 12.
