After an over two-month-long hiatus, Jahangir Tareen – the former close aide of Prime Minister Imran Khan – decided to break his silence Wednesday and that too to congratulate Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Mehmood Khan for the inauguration of BRT Peshawar.

In a tweet posted a day before the planned inaugural ceremony, Tareen said, “I know of the hard work that went into the final finishing of the project,” and added that the people of Peshawar will enjoy the quality public transportation.
After the salvo against the government over the sugar inquiry commission report in late May, he had left for the UK – a move that resulted in severe criticism of the government for allowing to fly abroad.
There has been speculation about the reasons behind Tareen’s decision as he is no more in the good books. In fact, his sugar mills has been issued notices over the around fourfold increase in its capacity and other matters related to the sugar scam.
The last tweet was posted on June 5 in which Tareen had promised to return as he mentioned that the media was speculating about his trip to the UK. He claimed that he had been having regular biannual medical check-up after recovering from his illness in 2014.
