Prime Minister Imran Khan has presided over a meeting the National Coordination Committee on Housing, Construction and Development, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Thursday.

Federal ministers, PM aides, senior officials attended the meeting while provincial reps joined it through a video link. The participants were briefed about the mater plans in the cities of KP and Punjab and attempts to finish the task at the earliest.

In Punjab, the work on 28 cities with more that 64 million people is in full swing, the meeting was told.

The moot mulled over the rules and regulation to look after highrises so that people could not face difficulties after building such structures.

The steps to protect green areas came under discussion during the meeting. The prime minister stress the need for creating awareness among the citizens about about measures to fend off problems caused by population explosion.

He said the people must be award of nature disaster and emergencies and steps to cope with any untoward incident. He said protecting the tourist places and preserving the heritage sites were on the priorities list of the government.
