LWA announces Sher-e-Lahore Dangal on Independence Day after 15 years

On the eve of the 75th Independence Day of Pakistan, the Lahore Wrestling Association (LWA) has announced to organize Sher-e-Lahore Dangal, reported 24News HD TV Channel.
LWA President Maher Akram aka Kala Pahlewan, national wrestling coach Farid Ali, and medallist of the Commonwealth Games Sharif Tahir addressed a press conference on Friday.
They announced organizing the Dangal on August 14 to celebrate Independence Day in which 25 prominent wrestlers will participate.
The LWA president said the Independence Day Dangal is being celebrated after 15 years. Maher Akram requested citizens of Lahore to encourage wrestlers by watching Dangal.
Pakistan’s wrestling team Coach Farid said there is a dire need for a National Wrestling Academy in the country at this time. Farid said the wrestling team performed well in the CWG.
He claimed that Pakistan could win a gold medal if government bear the cost of training 20 national wrestlers. He said Inam Butt should have received international training.
Mehr Akram said the title wrestling will be held between Sher-e-Lahore Malu Pehalwan (wrestler) and Hameed Kasai Pehalwan while Chhota Malu Pehalwan will fight against Mohammad Yar Pehalwan.
A match between Hera Baloch Pehalwan and Mani Pehalwan will be played for the title of Sher-e-Lahore, the LWA president said adding that a total of 30 matches of different categories will be held.
Sharif Tahir said he has a wish to qualify for the Olympics and World Championship to get medals for Pakistan. He said Pakistani wrestlers need international training for preparation.
