Brad Pitt’s fortress breach: Suspects caught Hollywood heist

Three people suspected of burglarising Brad Pitt’s Southern California home two months ago have been arrested, Los Angeles police confirmed on Monday.

The break-in occurred on June 26 at the Oscar-winning actor’s residence in the upscale Los Feliz neighbourhood. At the time, Pitt, 61, was in Japan promoting his upcoming racing film F1.

Authorities say the suspects were taken into custody last Thursday after being linked to the burglary through evidence gathered from an alleged attempted break-in at another home. Police believe the group had been involved in a wider crime spree targeting various residences across Los Angeles, not just celebrity properties.

Investigators revealed that the burglars scaled a fence to gain access to Pitt’s property before making off with items belonging to the Fight Club star. Surveillance footage and fingerprints collected from the scene played a crucial role in identifying the suspects.

“The operation didn’t appear to single out famous individuals,” officials told NBC LA, adding that other non-celebrity homes had also been targeted.

Still, the incident comes amid a wave of high-profile burglaries in Los Angeles affecting stars including Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson, Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban, Jennifer Aniston, and Dodgers pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto.

Pitt, currently dating jewellery executive Ines de Ramon, has not publicly commented on the break-in.

The actor, who famously played master thief Rusty Ryan in Ocean’s Eleven, appears to have been the victim of criminals far less skilled at covering their tracks.

The suspects now face multiple charges related to the burglary, with the investigation into their wider activities still ongoing.
