Amna Babar named best powerlifter at Punjab Independence Day championship

Amna Babar of Lahore was declared the best female powerlifter at the CM Punjab 79th Independence Day Women (RAW) Inter-District Powerlifting Championship after lifting a combined 225 kilograms in the bench press and deadlift events.

The championship, organised by the Punjab Raw Powerlifting Association in collaboration with the District Sports Office Lahore and Metropolitan Corporation Lahore, was held at the Elite Training Center at Punjab Stadium.

Championship organising secretary Aqeel Javed Butt, a former Strongest Man of Pakistan, former national team captain and international powerlifter, said more than 85 women competed in junior, senior and masters categories.

Participants represented Lahore, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Bhalwal, Sheikhupura, Nankana Sahib and Kasur and competed across different weight and age categories.

Deputy Commissioner Lahore Captain (retd) Muhammad Ali Ijaz, District Sports Officer Nadeem Naeem and Aqeel Javed Butt attended the event and distributed certificates and prizes among the participants.
