An old Instagram anecdote shared by internet personality Freddy Birdy, a post that once subtly hinted at the pair’s then-unconfirmed romance, has resurfaced, offering fans a nostalgic peek into the quiet beginnings of their relationship.
Years ago, Birdy had chronicled a trip from Delhi to Mumbai for a Vogue cover story shoot at Anushka’s penthouse.
The rediscovered post adds colour to a period when the actor and the cricketer were reportedly keeping their equation firmly under wraps. Birdy recalled that even his driver seemed thrilled as they approached her residence.
Inside the apartment, he described Anushka as "utterly gorgeous and completely unpretentious,” noting that she handled the conversation with easy charm and humour.
He recounted how his driver had urged him to find out whether she was dating Virat Kohli. Birdy said he eventually asked her, and in his words, her “best acting skills came to the fore” as she feigned surprise and shifted past the topic, prompting him to drop it, and he did, joking in his post that "because Arnab Goswami I'm not."
A short while later, her phone rang. Birdy said the room was quiet enough for him to hear the voice on the line, which he described as “flirting in the nicest way,” complete with dinner plans. Convinced the caller was Kohli, he left the interview smiling inwardly, even as he told his driver "No" when asked again if she had confirmed anything.
