Bilawal thanks Maryam Nawaz for warm welcome during Punjab visit
Pakistan People's Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari thanked Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz for a warm and gracious welcome during his ongoing political engagements in Lahore.
Posting on X, he expressed appreciation for what he called her “sincere welcome and positive attitude”, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday.
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz had earlier told Bilawal Bhutto in a tweet that Punjab was his home and that he would always be received with respect.
According to the channel, Bilawal’s Lahore trip included meetings with parliamentarians, ticket holders, senior journalists, business leaders, lawyers, student organisations and PPP workers.
The visit also saw a wave of new political entrants joining the PPP, a development attributed to the efforts of Punjab Governor Sardar Saleem Haider Khan, whom Bilawal praised for his active role in strengthening the party in the province.
During interactions with PPP leadership, Bilawal directed party office-bearers and lawmakers to prepare for a competitive showing in the upcoming local government elections and announced that he would return to Lahore soon.
He was warmly received by PYO and PSF youth activists, who chanted slogans declaring him a future prime minister, while several students formally announced their joining of the PPP.
Governor Saleem Haider said Bilawal’s presence had reinvigorated party workers, adding that the leadership aimed to carry his message across Punjab’s neighbourhoods and towns.
Bilawal, addressing supporters, urged political parties to remain within their constitutional limits and warned that any challenge to national integrity would be met with a firm response.
He also pledged to tour Punjab “street by street, neighbourhood by neighbourhood” to understand and address public concerns, telling PPP workers not to feel isolated.
PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto further commended the governor for transforming the Governor's House into what he called a more public-oriented institution.
