PCB extends deadline for two new PSL teams amid surging global investor interest
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Friday extended the deadline for submitting bids for the two new Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchises by one week, citing rising interest from investors across Europe, the United States of America (USA), and the Middle East, 24NewsHD TV reported.
PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi announced the decision on his official X handle, confirming that the new deadline for bid submissions has been shifted from December 15 to December 22, 2025.
“Witnessing growing interest from Europe, the USA, the Middle East and beyond in acquiring new HBL PSL teams, we have decided to extend the bid submission deadline by one week to 22 December 2025,” Naqvi wrote. He also welcomed all prospective investors, adding, “Good luck to everyone, excited to welcome our new franchise owners to the HBL PSL family.”

The extension follows a successful investor roadshow held at the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground in London, where the league attracted “unprecedented attention.”
A significant number of international investors attended the event and showed strong interest in purchasing the two new franchises.
Building on that momentum, the PCB will conduct another roadshow in New York on Saturday as part of its ongoing efforts to engage global investors ahead of the franchise auction, scheduled for January 6, 2026.
The PSL, which launched in 2016 with five teams and expanded to six in 2018, is preparing for its biggest structural shift yet. With the addition of two more sides for PSL 11—set to be played next year—the league will grow to eight franchises, marking its first major expansion in seven years.
Chairman Mohsin Naqvi reiterated that the extension aims to accommodate increasing global interest and ensure an open, competitive bidding process.
He welcomed all individuals and groups eager to become part of the expanding PSL ecosystem.
