Supreme Court Chief Justice Gulzar Ahmed ruled on Thursday that Justice Qazi Faez Isa should not hear any case involving Prime Minister Imran Khan.
In the detailed verdict issued by the Supreme Court of Pakistan and written by Justice Gulzar Ahmed in the case involving release of development funds to lawmakers ahead of the Senate elections, Chief Justice Gulzar said that Justice Qazi should not hear any case involving the prime minister, keeping in view the principle of impartiality. On this note, the chief justice disposed of the petition.
A five-member bench of the Supreme Court (SC), headed by Chief Justice Gulzar, disposed of the petition against the release of development funds to members of the parliament (MPs) by Prime Minister Imran Khan, saying the court was satisfied by the reply submitted by the prime minister in the case.
Attorney General of Pakistan (AGP) Khalid Jawed Khan told the court that the release of funds to legislators did not amount to breach of the constitution, adding that the Ministry of Finance looked into matters related to the amount released and its use.
