LHC rejects challenge to Nawaz Sharif’s victory in NA-130

The Lahore High Court (LHC) has disposed of a petition challenging victory of PML-N Quaid and former three-time prime minister Nawaz Sharif from NA-130, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The LHC Registrar pronouncing its ruling on Monday remarked that the petitioner is not a victim party in this case and returned the petition.

Ishtiaq A Chaudhry Advocate had filed the petition in the high court against the success of Nawaz Sharif in NA-130.

Rival PTI-backed candidate Dr Yasmin Rashid has also filed a challenge to Nawaz Sharif’s success in NA-130.

Meanwhile, the LHC has reserved verdicts on the maintainability of a number of petitions challenging the victories of PML-N and other candidates in the Thursday’s general elections.

The successful candidates included Maryam Nawaz from NA-119, Hamza Shehbaz from NA-118, Malik Saiful Malook Khokhar from NA-126, Attaullah Tarar from NA-127, Abdul Aleem Khan from NA-117 and Khawaja Asif from NA-71 Sialkot.

LHC’s Justice Ali Baqar Najfi heard the petitions filed by the PTI-supported independent candidates and reserved the verdicts after hearing arguments from all the parties.
