Pakistan and Bangladesh have taken a significant step to strengthen educational ties by finalizing a new academic cooperation agreement, enabling hundreds of Bangladeshi students to pursue higher education in Pakistan, 24NewsHD TV reported on Monday.

As part of the agreement’s first phase, 500 Bangladeshi students will receive fully funded scholarships to enroll in undergraduate programmes across multiple Pakistani universities.

The scholarships cover tuition and related academic expenses, ensuring students can study without financial burden.

The programme, named the Allama Iqbal Scholarship, reflects the shared cultural and intellectual heritage of the two Muslim countries.

Entry tests for the selection process were conducted by Pakistan’s Higher Education Commission (HEC) in several Bangladeshi cities, including Dhaka, Chattogram, and Rajshahi.

Reports indicated that the initiative received a warm reception, with students interacting with Pakistani officials, taking photographs, and expressing enthusiasm about the opportunity.

The scholarship programme is expected to foster stronger academic and cultural exchange between Pakistan and Bangladesh while providing young Bangladeshi students with valuable international exposure.
