Fake doctor arrested for stealing medicines and vaccines at Nishtar Hospital

A suspect posing as a doctor was arrested for stealing valuable medicines and vaccines from Nishtar Hospital Multan by using fake stamps, hospital officials said on Monday.

According to a spokesperson for Nishtar Hospital, the accused was caught red-handed while illegally withdrawing medicines from the pharmacy of the hospital’s accident department. A large quantity of medicines, vaccines, fake stamps and other related items were recovered from his possession.

The spokesperson said that three days ago the Medical Superintendent (MS) of Nishtar Hospital, Dr Rao Amjad Ali Khan, received information regarding the theft and immediately ordered action. Chief Security Officer Muhammad Irshad was assigned a special task to apprehend the suspect.

Following the instructions of the MS, security teams dressed in white coats were deployed at various points within the hospital to monitor suspicious activity.

During the operation, a man identified as Sheikh Nasir was arrested while stealing medicines from the pharmacy during a requisition process.

The arrested suspect, who reportedly belongs to the Grass Mandi area of Multan, was later handed over to Cantt Police Station for further legal action.

Commenting on the incident, Dr Rao Amjad Ali Khan said no one would be allowed to deprive poor patients of their rightful treatment and medicines, adding that strict action would continue against those involved in such crimes.
